The iNova preamplifier section employs a Class A 6N1P tube output stage that smooths the harsh digital edge.... we've played with tubes here at Upscale, and we find the Amperex 7308 performs flawlessly in this circuit.
You can run a separate amplifier or subwoofer from the pre-out RCA outputs if more power or bass is needed. The preamp maintains a high level of detail while taming digital music regardless of the codec. The iNova features a 24/96 USB input for your computer, plus two coaxial and two optical inputs delivering up to 24/192 resolution for other digital sources like Squeezebox, Apple TV, Airport and Sonos. It also offers two analog inputs for docking stations, CD players, tape decks or phono preamps. The iNova preamplifier covers the bases like no other product! Digital to Analog Converter
The heart of the iNova is the new ESS 9016, 32 bit, 24/192 D/A converter. It's specialized for computers or other sources that often deliver high levels of timing errors. Using the iNova with your current CD or DVD player will improve it, with higher resolution and added dynamic range.
Most DACs on the market were developed to accept low-jitter devices like a good CD player. When faced with the extremes of bad power supplies, grounding issues and high jitter, most fail to deliver maximum performance. The iNova, on the other hand, was developed with these unique problems in mind.
The ESS Sabre³² DAC's patented jitter-reduction circuit re-clocks the digital signal to less than three picoseconds before passing it through a high-resolution processor. This heavy re-clocking is required for computers and streaming or hard-drive based music servers. They all have high levels of timing problems that must be addressed if sound quality matters.
Noise associated with ground problems and switching power supplies is eliminated by transformer-coupling each digital input. The USB connection is galvanically isolated, eliminating noise generated by your computer's switching power supply and greatly improving the sound quality. Our design uses a multi-layer DAC board with over 450 components, a linear power supply and 11 regulated sub-power supplies, preventing noise at every level.
