Some tubes have “Bought the Gear Here ” pricing. You qualify for that price if the tubes are going into a piece of gear you bought from us new, demo, open stock, or show piece.

Used gear does not qualify

So here are the major points:

#1: All tubes are open to everybody. Making a purchase with the Bought the Gear Here pricing means it must be going into the product you bought new or demo from us. No exceptions. Used gear does not qualify. Being in the industry does not qualify.

Being Rick James does not qualify.

#2: Not all tubes have Bought the Gear Here pricing, because they may not be a problem from the standpoint of inventory. These rules only apply to tubes that have Bought the Gear Here pricing as an option.

#3: Bought the Gear Here pricing will expand to other NOS types as our inventory starts to get thin. If we've got thousands of something, and the rate of sale is not crazy, then I don't mind selling them to everybody at a good price. The point would be, for the guys that bought their gear here, we will always save you money later and get you special perks.

I've always tried to keep pricing reasonable and below market price. Some time ago, we started getting large orders for the hottest tubes that nobody else had. I mean 20 to 50 pieces at a time. Some of these tubes I had bought years earlier,   with no   replacements   coming in. At the rate they were selling, we would have run out within 6 months.

Frequently asked questions:

Q. Kevin... I bought the preamp from a guy that bought it from you. In fact, we were on the Titanic together and as the ship went down he GAVE me the preamp and his last words were "Kevin will give you Bought the Gear Here pricing." Does that qualify?

A. Nice story. But not only does it not work it hurts that you think I am that old.

Q. I have bought a lot of tubes from you over the years. Does that get me Bought the Gear Here pricing?

A. No. You have a good sense and have gotten good stuff from us, and you will in the future. But I have to support gear sales and take care of my homies.

Q. I've known you since the 70's and have pictures of you wearing platform shoes and smoking pot. Is that worth something?

A. Uhhh... Let's talk.
