Product Description

Ediswan CV2492 - This is perhaps one of the finest and rarest 6922 types ever made. Virtually unfindable in the U.S. Stunning midrange texture while maintaining top and bottom end extension. You may also sometimes see these branded as CV5358. Please note: these will give a little "ting" for a second if you flip switches on SOME preamps. Don't sweat it.

Still these are somewhat affordable.  $80 for Platinum grade suitable for preamps and phono stages.  Less if you use them as a buffer or driver in a CD player.  Everybody deserves a treat here and there. Price above is for a single tube.

If you want a relaxed tip top with rounder bass use the Amperex 7308.  But then we have stocks of a lot of super-sexy stuff.   If you dpon't have this kind of jack use the Matsushita PCC88.

Platinum grade - The best of the best. Lowest noise and microphony with the tightest triode balance we have available. This is typically 10% or tighter, but may be higher depending on available stock.

Gold grade - Low noise and microphonics with a triode balance typically between 15% and 20%, but may be higher depending on available stock.

Driver grade - Lowest noise but not the lowest in microphony. Triode balance will be similar to Gold grade.
This grade is only suitable for use in the driver stage of an amplifier, or the output/buffer stage of a DAC or CD Player.

If you have a preamp or phonostage, you need at least Gold grade.

Product Reviews

  1. Great mids but bass could be tighter

    Posted by Michael

Bought these for an Aesthetix Calypso Signature, they replaced the stock EH tubes. Wonderful, textured and lifelike mids, extended, very detailed and clean highs, but I found the bass to be slightly loose sounding, as well as not extending cleanly into the bottom octave. Nothing extreme, just not quite as tight as I would have liked. Overall a big improvement over the stock tubes from the midrange up, but not the bass. I would actually rate these 4.5 stars if I could.

  2. Dramatic improvement to say the least

I replaced some 60's vintage Sylvania 6922's with these Ediswans. The Sylvanias were a big improvement over the stock Philips tubes and with the Upsampler upgrade and tele's in the preamp, I thought I was doing pretty good. Being a soundstage and imaging freak though, I thought I could do better after reading these reviews and I was not disappointed. As the others have said, much greater separation and everything is wider, taller, deeper etc. A nice sparkle on the highs, more and better bass and oh the mids!
May be more of a dramatic improvement than adding the Upsampler, but I suspect I'm just now hearing what the Upsampler is capable of doing!

  3. Best 80 Bucks I've spent in Awhile!

The tubes in my AH! Tjoeb CD player were beginning to sound tired, so I figured Upscale, the importer/distributor would be the place to go-and it's always a kick talking with Kevin.

I bought the Ediswans largely on the strength of the reviews above, and the gentlemen are correct.Yes, these tubes "do" many of the things audiophiles cherish, but more importantly, they serve the music in a way that allows you to become totally involved, and forget about the equipment. This has become my new benchmark for all things hi-fi.

I can't imagine anyone not enjoying these relaxed, musical tubes, and the price is right. Go for it.

  4. very liquid tube

Wow, I am actually shocked at how much of a difference these tubes made in my pre-amp! You can almost see the notes so much more air. I honestly think that this is the best 200.00 dollar tweak I have found yet. I guess the only complaint is they ring just a tiny bit on loud notes in the higher frequencies, but this is a tiny issue compared to the improvement they have brought to my system. I have the gold upgrade so perhaps the platinums would be even better. They are a huge improvement over the ancient sovtek I had.

  5. highly recommended!

I put these(driver grade) in my Tjoeb cdp which has the upsampler board. I replaced the nos Mullards I had been using for a couple of years and was very satisfied with. First thing I noticed was a great deal more air around each instrument. They were easier to place on the stage. The highs had more magic without being bright. My Mullards used to impress me this way but I''m wondering if they have gotten weaker and would be curious to test them. Highly recommended for the Tjoeb player!

  6. What a huge difference!

I asked Kevin for a reasonable costing upgrade from the stock tubes that come in the AH! and he suggested these. WOW what a hugh diffrence in size of stage, width & depth. Much improved bass, velvety mids, and great effortless highs. Overall big improvment in air and texture, oh by the way, I now understand what "bloom" means.....thanks again Kevin for some great products and advice. I will remain a loyal customer for a long time I am sure.

  7. none

My second favorite 6922 in the world behind the Mullard 6922 in red National boxes. Charming, elegant, rich, and powerful come to mind. More forgiving than the Mullard and less neutral. Maybe a tad soft at the frequency extreems, but oh so musical. Warms up a twitchy tweeter and an inexpensive tube CD player. Very quiet and much better than current production 6DJ8s by a country mile.

I put these platinum grade tubes in the input stage of my cary v12i amp and I am very pleased with them. They have a very good balanced are sweet top to bottom and texture and detail to die for. The air around the intrument was very nice the music just flowed with ease, just a great sounding tube.. talk to jared or kevin they are just great to deal with..

CRYOGENICALLY TREATED VACUUM TUBES. DONE TO UPSCALE AUDIO STANDARDS!

cryotubessmall.jpgMost of you already know that Upscale Audio is the premier destination for expertise and availability of vacuum tubes for high-end audio equipment. So when we offer servies and options, you can be guaranteed that it represents a significant investment of research and capital, and that the end result will greatly enhance your listening experience.

Upscale has contracted with the foremost company involved in this technology, 300 Below, to treat our most popular tubes.  Other tubes will be added as time allows, but it is a time consuming proccess.  Our intention is to have most stocks Cryogenically treated before we even test them.

Of course, your first question is – and should be – why?  In a nutshell, reducing an object’s temperature to -300ºF re-arranges its molecular structure, creating greater uniformity that results in longer life and better performance than when the product was initially designed. With vacuum tubes, this process has a profound impact on a tube’s ability to endure thermal shock. Therefore, tubes can last longer and their sound can been enhanced in ways that are simply exquisite.

After thoughtful and thorough research, Upscale Audio chose 300 Below because of their extensive experience in working with musical instruments as well as auto racing, metal tooling, and high-end sporting goods from rifle barrels to golf clubs.  Expect nothing but the best from Upscale Audio.

Our charge for Cryogenically treating tubes is a fraction of what others charge, though we use the premier company.  Count on Upscale to do the best job and not price gouge .  Also available is cryogenic treatment for cables, along with our well-known Nordost Vidar cable treatment system.  Call for details. Pricing is listed on each tube and cable page.

Warranty Information

Vacuum tubes are warranted for 90 days against defects, except in cases of abuse, and replaced with like-item only.

  • Tubes being sent in for warranty must have a return authorization number from Upscale Audio. This RA number must be written on the outside of the box. Please also include a note in the box that has your name and telephone number, and please explain the issues with the tube. If this information is missing it will delay the shipment of your replacement tube.
  • Vacuum tubes being sent to Upscale Audio for warranty replacement must be shipped in a box with appropriate packaging to keep them from being damaged. Vacuum tubes returned to Upscale Audio using inadequate packing will have a voided warranty and will be refused at the customer's expense.

Exceptions to our warranty policy are as follows:

  • Upscale Audio reserves the right to refuse warranty at our disgretion based on the equipment being re-tubed. You will be notified of any change prior to your order being processed.
  • Using a tube in an application in which it was not meant to be used. If your amp calls for a 6550, and you decide you want to plug in a 6V6GT, Upscale Audio is not liable if the tube fails, and will not honor any warranty in such a situation.

Upscale Audio is not liable for any damage or injury caused by the improper use of its tubes or the use of an incorrect/incompatible tube type. If you are unsure of what tube or tubes your equipment uses, consult the manufacturer before making a purchase. Using an incompatible tube type may cause severe damage to your equipment and will void your tube's warranty.
