Loading... Please wait...Amperex Bugle Boy 6DJ8/ECC88 - Ohhh baby! I don't think I have to tell you guys much about this one. These are the real deal. 1960's vintage NOS complete with Bugle Boy logo. You know these are one of the most sought after 6DJ8 types ever made. I paid top dollar flor thes as they are so nice, so they're priced accordingly.
Made in the Philips Holland factory, and have that same family sound: Liquid smooth, but slightly up-front mids, nice airy top end. Holographic 3D soundstage. For more info on the Philips Holland factory, click here.
A Quick note about Bugle Boy 6DJ8s: These tubes, by nature, are pretty sensitive to vibration, This means if you want to use these in a preamp or phonostage, you may hear a slight "TING!" through your speakers when you flip switches or tap the preamp... so don't wig out.
These tubes, as well as the Amperex 6922, don't hold up in the Audible Illusions L1, L2, or Modulus 3.
Please call or email before ordering to confirm availability as these are in very limited supply.
Platinum grade - The best of the best. Lowest noise and microphony with the tightest triode balance we have available. This is typically 10% or tighter, but may be higher depending on available stock.
Gold grade - Low noise and microphonics with a triode balance typically between 15% and 20%, but may be higher depending on available stock.
Driver grade - Lowest noise but not the lowest in microphony. Triode balance will be similar to Gold grade.
This grade is only suitable for use in the driver stage of an amplifier, or the output/buffer stage of a DAC or CD Player.
If you have a preamp or phonostage, you need at least Gold grade.

This is a very transparent tube with a nice soundstage that puts you in the front row of the concert hall. It is a very accurate tube across the audio spectrum in its presentation but is very much up front. I hate giving all these tubes five stars but they really are all very nice it just depends on what you are looking for.
