Product Description

6H23 Type 3 - Also called a 6H23P-EB. This is one of the most durable 6922 types we have. It is very clear in the mids. Not as warm as the type 2. But if you have had trouble with noise or you own a difficult preamp, this is the tube for you.  We used to supply these to the Audible Illusions factory for production back in the day. 

This tube and the Type 2 are the only 6922 tubes we recommend for Audible Illusions, CAT, and other troublesome preamps.  Until recently when we found a nice stash of Matsushita 7DJ8 which kick ass.  6922 Type 2 slightly warm type 3 more vivid, and Matsushita 7DJ8 are like getting a back rub.  Really nice. 

Platinum grade - The best of the best. Lowest noise and microphony with the tightest triode balance we have available. This is typically 10% or tighter, but may be higher depending on available stock.

Gold grade - Low noise and microphonics with a triode balance typically between 15% and 20%, but may be higher depending on available stock.

Driver grade - Lowest noise but not the lowest in microphony. Triode balance will be similar to Gold grade.
This grade is only suitable for use in the driver stage of an amplifier, or the output/buffer stage of a DAC or CD Player.

If you have a preamp or phonostage, you need at least Gold grade.

    Probably the most durable and dependable tube to use in a Audible Illusions M3A. You can depend on these! Very clear, dynamic midrange and super quiet. Holds up well and for a long time! Bass is accurate and extended and highs nice. A great step up from Sovteks. Overall a real solid, worry-free performer. Easy to recommend. Nice.

    I first used these in an AI Modulus, I re-ordered as Cro Platinum's, for my Audiovalve Sunilda phono stage as I had tried some AI ones that I had left over, I must say that these are far better, more inner detail & more extended both ends, with great dynamics that nearly knock you out of your seat, but not in a bad way, just startling when you don't expect it & they do it without glare or hardness, I suspect this is partly achieved through Cryo treatment, I know this tube & it's not just for Audible Illusions, they'll make you Phono Stage or Preamp get up & go especially if they sound a bit dull.

    Jared suggested these and patiently answered all my questions. I got these in the Platinum version. Everything the other reviewers say meets with my experience. I expected little if any change and was floored by the improved clarity, warmth and body such an inexpensive change made. Bass is tight literally as a drum, uncolored at all, and my system just has slam it did not have before to this extent before these tubes. Used to use "Sovtek"

    This is the best tubes I had put in my Audible Illusions. I cannot imagine using other brands than this in my pre: very much liquid than the stocks Sovtek and Ei, and without the Mullard´s ringing. Better bass, sweetest mids, more realistc voices and chords. Blacker silences. The best choice for my A.I. souds at its best!
    Even better if matced quartet by Kevin Deal equipment.

    Kevin, Thank you so much for the new 6922 tubes you sent me. I put them in my Audible Illusion Mod 3A last night, turned it on and WOW. No ringing and quiet as a mouse. I will never by bargain tubes again.

    Kevin: After we spoke, I bought the type 3 6922''s you recommended in Platinum Grade for my pesky Audilble Ilusions Preamp. What a change in focus, soundstage, bass sharpness, clarity, and presence! You are the real deal, and I will certainly check your site before I buy anything else "audio".     Substantial improvements over the stock ones in my Audible illusions. Always suspected some edgeness over all, but now with the 6h23 EB''s type3 in place, music is rendered effortlessly, bass seems to go deeper, cleaner.

Upscale has contracted with the foremost company involved in this technology, 300 Below, to treat our most popular tubes.  Other tubes will be added as time allows, but it is a time consuming proccess.  Our intention is to have most stocks Cryogenically treated before we even test them.  

 

Of course, your first question is – and should be – why?  In a nutshell, reducing an object’s temperature to -300ºF re-arranges its molecular structure, creating greater uniformity that results in longer life and better performance than when the product was initially designed.With vacuum tubes, this process has a profound impact on a tube’s ability to endure thermal shock. Warranty Information

Vacuum tubes are warranted for 90 days against defects, except in cases of abuse, and replaced with like-item only.

  • Tubes being sent in for warranty must have a return authorization number from Upscale Audio. This RA number must be written on the outside of the box. Please also include a note in the box that has your name and telephone number, and please explain the issues with the tube. If this information is missing it will delay the shipment of your replacement tube.
  • Vacuum tubes being sent to Upscale Audio for warranty replacement must be shipped in a box with appropriate packaging to keep them from being damaged. Vacuum tubes returned to Upscale Audio using inadequate packing will have a voided warranty and will be refused at the customer's expense.


Exceptions to our warranty policy are as follows:

  • Upscale Audio reserves the right to refuse warranty at our disgretion based on the equipment being re-tubed. You will be notified of any change prior to your order being processed.
  • Using a tube in an application in which it was not meant to be used. If your amp calls for a 6550, and you decide you want to plug in a 6V6GT, Upscale Audio is not liable if the tube fails, and will not honor any warranty in such a situation.

Upscale Audio is not liable for any damage or injury caused by the improper use of its tubes or the use of an incorrect/incompatible tube type. If you are unsure of what tube or tubes your equipment uses, consult the manufacturer before making a purchase. Using an incompatible tube type may cause severe damage to your equipment and will void your tube's warranty.
