The HEIMDALL interconnect uses four 26 AWG solid OFC conductors with an extruded silver surface. The conductors are wrapped in a FEP thread or Mono-Filament wound in a helix over the conductors. An FEP tube is extruded over this which reduces insulation contact to the conductors by more than 80% with extreme mechanical stability.The cable are terminated with WBT NEXTGEN gold plated copper connectors which offer the perfect low mass connection between the cables and the equipment. The combination of four Mono-Filaments with the WBT connectors means that this cable offers superb imaging and musical detail.

    We changed the cables on my brothers system first. A Manley Steelhead to a Krell Evo amp driving CLX's the change was incredible the bass mids and highs were unbelievable the room was like being on stage. I ordered these and changed out my Audioquest analog cables from my Sutherland phonostage to my Manley Jumbo Shrimp preamp with (Kevin's hot tubes) to Krell amp driving Dynaudio 360 speakers. The sound was incredible like turning on a switch it just lit up the room. The bass mids and highs were amazing with super defintion, dynamics, punch and an awsome soundstage. The only word that comes to mind is WOW I will be changing out the rest of my cables after these results even my Cardas.

This service may be purchased for $199 and is good for treating up to five cables at once.  The following cables can be treated on the VIDAR treatment system:

Any pair of analog interconnects with RCA or XLR termination
Any digital interconnect with RCA, XLR, or BNC termination
Any pair of speaker cables
Any tonearm cable that uses a 5-pin DIN connector to RCA or XLR termination

The following cables cannot be treated:

Power cables
Video or computer cables (Component, DVI, HDMI, USB)
Interconnects with special terminations such as RCA to XLR or RCA to BNC)
XLR interconnects with non-standard pin-outs
Headphone cables (any cable with a 1/4" or 3.5mm headphone jack at one end)

The VIDAR combines three different functions all in one operation:

  • It neutralizes charges that build up around the cables and the insulation
  • It provides a very wide band and deep conditioning into the conductor core, which produces changes in the way signals pass through the metal.
  • It ultrasonically conditions the surface of the conductors.

The VIDAR is constructed using the highest quality parts. Each conductor is fed by a bridge mode amplifier. It uses a total of 44 amplifiers in its circuitry. Each amplifier is held at a very precise voltage. The circuit is designed so that there is no difference in voltages between any of the amplifiers.

vidar2.jpgThe VIDAR uses a proprietary combination of composite and complex signals to condition the cables. Parts of the signal oscillate at ultra-low frequencies, while other parts are in ultra-high ranges which extend beyond the range of video frequencies. The signal bounces in a ping-ping ball-like fashion from one end of the cable to the other. During the burn-in process, ultra-low frequencies penetrate deep into the core of the cable. The ultra-high frequencies zip along the surface. This method of signal transmission sets up beat harmonics, or heterodynes, between the two complex waveforms. In the digital domain, this would be referred to as aliasing products. These beat frequencies penetrate all layers of the cable.

The design of the circuitry also has a unique feature which drives electrons above the conductor into the dielectric (or insulation) area. The VIDAR not only sends ping pong signals along the cable, it also sends a similar signal from the center core to the outer shield in the case of interconnect cables. This function neutralizes the electrical charges discussed above.

So... What does that all mean to me?
The end result of conditioning cables with the Nordost VIDAR is improved soundstaging, increased detail, and an overall more musical presentation. The VIDAR can burn in any digital audio, analog audio, or video interconnect with an RCA, XLR, or BNC connector, speaker cable, and tonearm cable. Can't do power cords, sorry.
