PrimaLuna Gets John Darko in a Bubble Bath

John Darko recently set up the "heaviest amp he can remember having," the PrimaLuna EVO 400 Integrated.
He was pleasantly surprised to be presented with something that was "not the cliched view of many EL34 amplifiers in that it does not sound thick or buttery. Not at all."
Darko found the EVO 400 highly resolving with "excellent dynamic prowess, especially with microdynamics" and big and punchy bass. He found this to be the case even on 85 dB speakers, his current Kaya S12 standmounts.
When John changed speakers to a model we're all familiar with, he noted, "With the Klipsch Forte IV, the PrimaLuna brought more substance to the midrange," reminding us why we love the combination so dearly.
We also liked the part where he talked about the EVO 400's "vapor-trail-like instrumental decay," being rich with tone color but not syrupy.
Darko was surprised, but we totally weren't, that the headphone output is "absolutely fantastic."
