Pope 6V6GT - has the mighty RCA and Visseaux been de-throned? Yes. The Pope 6V6GT was made in a Philips Holland factory near the border of Belgium. Click here for more info on the Philips factories. I have driven by the old building on my way to the Charleroi airport. This tube was made from 1957 to about 1960.

This tube is made the same way as the old Amperex EL-34. I have run them at 450v DC on the plates and screens, and drawn 70ma from them. They don't budge. I don't want to tell you it's OK to do this in your amp...it is way beyond the published limit of the tube. But I was shocked. The sound is what Philips/Amperex is famous for. Great life in the mids. Wonderful extension. Humanity! Right now priced at $35 each. Like other super cool stuff, as we run through them, price goes up.

Wonderful tube! Midrange sounds fantasic with great detail. Voices are natural, out front, clear with good volume. Instruments where they should be. The highs have bit but never harsh. Base is tight. Very musical, balanced and easy to listen too with great hang time on notes. Paired with the 6H30 elsewhere here with my BAT 3iX preamp is one serious upgrade.
