Description

Mullard CV4003/12AU7. Attn: Rogue, Conrad Johnson and other "picky" preamp owners!! I had about enough of the PV-10, 11, and 12 being a bit tough on 12AU7s, and was suggesting folks stay with Chinese or RFT even though they don't sound as good as a Mullard. We now have a test where we can supply you with premium tubes that are quiet and don't go microphonic.
The Mullard CV4003 is a wonderful tube British tube with the midrange we crave.

Gold grade - Not available for this tube.

Platinum grade - The best of the best. Lowest noise and microphony with the tightest triode balance we have available. This is typically 10% or tighter, but may be higher depending on available stock.

Driver grade - Lowest noise but not the lowest in microphony. Triode balance will be similar to Gold grade.
This grade is only suitable for use in the driver stage of an amplifier, or the output/buffer stage of a DAC or CD Player.
If you have a preamp or phonostage, you need at least Gold grade.

Special CJ Test - For guys with Conrad Johnson or Rogue preamps, you want this grade. The absolute tightest triode balance, with the lowest noise and microphony. Then we put these tubes through another special test to ensure they stay low in microphony.

"HI KEVIN HAVE USED THE 4003 TUBES FOR TWO WEEKS IN MY CJ12A AND WHAT A DIFFERENCE OVER THE EI TUBES. IMPROVEMENT IN THE TOTAL RANGE BUT AS YOU SAID IT IS THE MIDRANGE THAT FLOORS YOU.COULD NOT BE HAPPIER. PREAMP IS NOW DEAD QUIET ALSO. NINETY BUCKS IS BEST AND CHEAPEST UPGRADE I HAVE EVER MADE. Look no further, these Mullard box plates are the ticket! In EAR, Cary, vintage gear like Scott and Mac, you can''t go wrong. Open, powerful, clean, elegant, musical, and smooth, these Mullards make the gear sing. The best 12AU7 I''ve used to date and I''ve used at least a dozen brands in the last year alone in reviewing. Get''m while you can. They are essential to maximizing the performance of your expensive goodies. Best high band and bass performance yet in a tube. Perfect.

I replaced a pair of Golden Dragon 12AU7’s in my VAC amp with the Mullard CV4003’s and the impact was not subtle. Any slight midrange glair and “up-front-ness” was gone! Much smoother sound without any loss of detail Way recommended!
