Mullard 6922 - Made in Great Britain. These came in packs of 100 packed for the British military, packed in military boxes. "CV" stood for "Common Valve" and 2493 was a designation for 6922. Will give you that famous smooth Mullard midrange, with a smidge more energy on top. Great tube if your system is a little relaxed, as they will give you more sparkle in the highs. You may hear a slight "ting!" through your speakers when you move switches, or tap on the preamp. This is normal.

Gold grade - Low noise and microphonics with a triode balance typically between 15% and 20%, but may be higher depending on available stock.

Platinum grade - The best of the best. Lowest noise and microphony with the tightest triode balance we have available. This is typically 10% or tighter, but may be higher depending on available stock.

Driver grade - Lowest noise but not the lowest in microphony. Triode balance will be similar to Gold grade.
This grade is only suitable for use in the driver stage of an amplifier, or the output/buffer stage of a DAC or CD Player.
If you have a preamp or phonostage, you need at least Gold grade.

Mullard Cv 2493 in CJ LP70s amp   10/7/2008
Reviewed by: carole doreski from negativity institute.
Retubing a Conrad Johnson LP70S amp ... was delighted with the Ediswan in the CJ 17LS2 preamp ... this Mullard 2493 (suggested by Mr Deal) was the ideal upgrade for the amp. Warm, detailed soundstage (what Mr Deal called "a little more sparkle") made this amp sing. Kevin has never steered me wrong ... he knows tubes and their setting.
